Big success for Jammu and Kashmir Police, 425 drug smugglers arrested from Baramulla
Police in Baramulla district have arrested 425 drug smugglers, including 69 notorious smugglers, during this year. 242 cases have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Phototrophic Substances Act.

Till October 31, police have registered 242 cases under the NDPS Act, resulting in the arrest of 425 drug smugglers, the police said. The smugglers include 69 hard-core drug smugglers who have been booked under PIT NDPS and Public Safety Act (PSA).
Police said that property worth crores of drug smugglers has also been confiscated. The police have also made a huge seizure of drugs worth crores of rupees in the black market. Police have seized property worth Rs 2.3 crore of drug smugglers, which includes three houses, three vehicles and cash worth Rs 1.2 crore has also been confiscated by the police.
Baramulla Police has achieved remarkable success in its sustained campaign against drug trafficking. The number of registered cases has declined significantly in recent months. During the first half of the year, from January to June, cases increased, with the number rising from 10 to 40 in April alone.
