On Thursday, the second match of the ODI series between India and Australia was played in Adelaide. Australia achieved India's target of 265 runs in 46.2 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Australia has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series with this victory. Chasing the target of 265 runs, Matt Short played a brilliant innings of 74 runs off 78 balls, including 2 sixes and 4 fours. Cooper Connolly remained unbeaten on 61 runs off 53 balls. Matt Renshaw scored 30 runs, and Mitchell Owen scored 36 runs.

Indian bowlers dismissed both Australian openers, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, at the score of 54. At this point, the Indian team had a chance to take a few more wickets and gain control of the match, but the Indian bowlers failed. The Australian batsmen achieved the target through small partnerships. Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Washington Sundar took two wickets each for India. Axar Patel and Siraj took one wicket each.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl. India scored 264 for nine, thanks to half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. Rohit Sharma scored 73 runs off 97 balls, including two sixes and seven fours. Shreyas Iyer scored 61 runs off 77 balls, including seven fours. Rohit and Shreyas shared a crucial 118-run partnership for the third wicket. Apart from this, Axar Patel scored 44 runs, and Harshit Rana scored an unbeaten 18 runs. For Australia, Adam Zampa took 4 wickets, Xavier Bartlett took 2 wickets, and Mitchell Starc took 2 wickets.

Shubman Gill was out for 10 runs in the Perth ODI and 9 runs in Adelaide. He also lost the toss in both matches. Furthermore, Gill made numerous mistakes while setting up the bowling attack. In both matches, it did not seem as if the captain had any role. However, after losing the match, he admitted that the team made mistakes and lost wickets early. But he also praised Rohit and Shreyas, who batted brilliantly. Now, Team India will have to win the last match to avoid a clean sweep.
