A student committed suicide in Kota, Rajasthan. Actually, this 18-year-old student was preparing for JEE. On November 23, at 3 am, he committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of the hostel. Police have given information about this incident.
The police further said, no suicide note had been recovered from his room and the reason for the suicide is not yet known. According to the police, Vivek Kumar, a resident of Annupur in Madhya Pradesh, has been preparing for JEE in a coaching institute here since April.
Police further said that he lived in a hostel room in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in the Jawahar Nagar area. Deputy Superintendent of Police Yogesh Sharma told PTI that the boy allegedly jumped from the sixth floor around midnight.
Vivek was taken to a hospital where he died during treatment, he said. The DSP said that the safety net installed on the balcony of the boy's room had holes and was found scratched indicating that it might have been tampered with to facilitate the jump. A forensic team was sent to the spot for collecting evidence and investigating the circumstances leading to the cause of death, he added.
However, as to whether the safety net was damaged or tampered with deliberately, that has to be decided, the DSP said. "The post-mortem of the body will be carried out after the arrival of the parents and a case will be registered based on the statement of the parents," He said. And this is not the first case of its kind, either. This is the 16th suicide by a coaching student in Kota since January this year; whereas last year, 26 such cases were reported in the city.
