Ana Sagar Lake overflow made condition worse; Roads are overflowing, shops in basements are filled with water

The torrential rain in Ajmer on Friday night has worsened the condition of the city. Ana Sagar Lake, referred to as the city's identity, has overflowed and now its water has begun to flow on the city roads. Owing to round-the-clock rain and excess inflow in the lake, the water level had exceeded the filling mark, as a result of which there is a heavy condition of waterlogging in the local areas.

Max impact is being felt in Vaishali Nagar area, as the water from the lake has entered the major roads. Traffic on the roads has totally halted and a majority of the shops and showrooms have been shut down. Water has penetrated into the basement of the shops, because of which the traders have incurred huge financial losses.

Local businessmen complain that they have not been able to operate the shop for the past two days and all the commodities of those whose business is done in the basement area have been under water. This has created a deep sense of resentment and anxiety among the businessmen.

Due to rain, it has become difficult for people to leave their homes in many parts of the city. People who went out for school, office and daily work were stranded for hours due to waterlogging or were forced to return. Bajranggarh to Fawwara Chauraha and Hathibhata area are also flooded, due to which the administration has temporarily closed these roads. In view of the possibility of accidents, the police have barricaded and advised people to walk through alternative routes.

Relief work is being hampered due to the continuous overflow of the lake and the continuous rain. Municipal corporation teams are engaged in efforts to drain the water, but their efforts are proving insufficient at the moment in front of heavy rain and the speed of water.

Deepak Gupta, who has a fast food stall at Anasagar Chowpatty, says that he has not been able to set up his stall for two days. Deepak says that the household runs with daily earnings, now it has become difficult to even manage the household expenses. In such circumstances, small traders and daily wage workers are facing an employment crisis.

Local citizens have accused the administration of negligence and said that this situation arises every year during monsoon, but no permanent solution has been found so far. People say that if the lake and drains were cleaned on time, then this situation would not have arisen today.

The Meteorological Department has predicted more rain in the next 24 hours, due to which the situation is likely to worsen further. The administration has appealed to the city dwellers not to go out of the house unnecessarily and maintain distance from waterlogged areas.
