A 2-storey dilapidated building collapsed in Amravati, Maharashtra. 5 people died in the accident, while 2 people are injured. Amravati Police has given information about the matter. District Collector Pavneet Kaur said that many people were present in the building at the time of the accident. So far the bodies of 5 people have been recovered. Two people were injured after being buried under the rubble. He has been sent to the hospital for treatment. Relief and rescue work is going on.
A municipal official said the building was in a dilapidated condition. The Amravati Municipal Corporation issued a notice for the demolition of the building in July. Even after this, the building was not demolished. Pavneet Kaur said that the matter will be investigated, and strict action will be taken against those responsible for this.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed grief over the accident. He has announced an assistance of Rs 5 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to the kin of the deceased. At the same time, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that the state government will bear the cost of treatment of the injured.
