Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC, is set to begin in just a few hours today, June 9. Although the main focus is on AI and developer updates, all eyes are on iOS 26. This time, the tech giant is expected to implement significant changes to its operating system. Today, we will discuss seven major changes anticipated in the new OS, which the company may announce during WWDC 2025.

According to a Bloomberg report, iOS 26 is being dubbed the biggest design upgrade since iOS 7. The company plans to align the design of its entire OS with that of the Vision Pro headset, featuring rounded app icons and a more immersive overall feel. This new design will be rolled out not only to the iPhone but also across Apple's entire ecosystem, from the iPad to CarPlay. Key apps to be redesigned include the Phone app, while Safari may feature a more transparent address bar, and the Camera app could also see user interface changes.

iOS 26 will introduce a new fun feature that allows users to create entirely new emojis by combining any two existing ones. Whether it's a robot-unicorn or a laughing face with a pizza slice, it seems Apple aims to make your chats resemble comic strips.

Apple is integrating artificial intelligence in various ways. With the new update, an AI battery mode is being introduced to help your iPhone conserve battery life. This mode won’t lower your screen brightness or turn off features; instead, it will first learn how you use your device and then function more like a smart assistant.

With iOS 26, Apple may enhance the Messages app by incorporating AI functionalities. A number of new features are expected, including real-time message translation. With Apple Intelligence integrated into the system, incoming messages in foreign languages will be automatically translated. Additionally, users will have the option to set background images in the Messages app, similar to WhatsApp or Instagram.

Apple has been planning to roll out tools like live translation for a while. In the new iOS 26, users will also be able to engage in real-time voice translation during calls, even through AirPods, simplifying conversations. Whether you're ordering food abroad or chatting with distant relatives, language will no longer pose a barrier.

There are also indications that the new OS update may provide a desktop mode for iPhones. According to leaker Majin Boo, Apple might enable iPhones with USB-C ports to connect to external monitors, offering a stage manager-style interface.

Additionally, Apple may introduce a virtual health coach in this update. This feature could be added to Apple's Health app and will be powered by AI. It will not only suggest lifestyle changes but will also analyze your data and provide dietary advice.
