Winter Tightens Its Hold on Rajasthan With Sub-10°C Temperatures Across Cities

More than 18 cities of Rajasthan record a minimum temperature of less than 10 degrees. The temperature recorded in many places plunged to 1-2 degrees on Tuesday night, including Sikar, Fatehpur, Nagaur, and Mount Abu. The Meteorological Department said the minimum temperature across the state would drop by 1-2 degrees over the next 48 hours. While Fatehpur was the coldest place, recording the lowest minimum temperature, with 3.7°C, Mount Abu recorded a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius, Lunkaransar 4.9 degrees Celsius, Nagaur 4.3 degrees Celsius, Churu 6.3 degrees Celsius, Karauli 5.9 degrees Celsius, Dausa 5.3 degrees Celsius, Sirohi 7.3 degrees Celsius and Sikar 6.2 degrees Celsius. Most of these places witnessed intensive cold at both morning and evening while the Shekhawati region witnessed a moderate cold wave.

According to the Meteorological Department, a western disturbance will become active in North India from December 12th, due to which the northern winds blowing in Rajasthan will weaken and some areas are likely to become cloudy. This could cause a rise of 2 to 3 degrees in the minimum temperature.

Clear skies and active winds at higher altitudes in Rajasthan led to bright sunshine as soon as the sun rose. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature increased by 1 to 2 degrees in Barmer, Bikaner, Churu, and Ganganagar. The highest day temperature was recorded at 33.4 degrees Celsius in Barmer.
