WhatsApp Plans Message Cap for Users Who Text People Outside Contact List
WhatsApp is making a major change to curb unwanted and bulk messages. Under a new testing rule, users and businesses will be limited to the monthly number of messages they can send to people who are not in their contact list and do not respond to their messages. This move will help reduce spam and fraud on the platform.

Messaging app WhatsApp is set to make a big change to prevent spam and unwanted messages. The service is testing out a new policy that will restrict the number of monthly messages that can be sent by users and companies to individuals who are not in their contact list and do not reply to such messages.
This new plan will provide customers with a tidier inbox. It should be mentioned that in recent years, WhatsApp has developed from a mere chat app to an integrated platform for communities, business accounts, and customer service numbers. But this expansion has also been followed by the rise in unwanted messages and promotional messages, which were troublesome for most users.
According to a TechCrunch report, WhatsApp is now testing a monthly limit on messages sent to people who don't respond. Every message sent to someone who doesn't appear in the contact list will count towards this limit. For example, if someone sends three messages to someone who doesn't respond, they will use up their three allowed messages for that month.
WhatsApp has not yet disclosed the exact message limit. The company has stated that it is still experimenting with various limits. Users will likely receive a warning when they approach this monthly message limit. Once they reach the set limit, they may be temporarily blocked from sending messages to new contacts.
