Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal announced on Thursday that the talks with the US for a bilateral trade agreement are moving in a good direction. He added that the talks on the trade agreement with the European Union (EU) are also moving at a rapid pace.

A US official team will visit India next week for trade talks with India. Addressing the annual business summit, 2025 of industry body CII, Goyal said, "Hopefully, even in these difficult times, we will be able to move forward and bring good results soon. We will be able to reach an agreement that is beneficial for the businesses of both sides."

He said there are only a few areas where India and the US compete. Earlier in the day, Commerce Department Special Secretary Rajesh Agarwal said the talks were progressing well.

Rajesh Agarwal, who was India's chief negotiator in the US, said, "There are many areas where we can complement each other. If we can make a good trade deal, it can be a decisive partnership in the trade sector, and that is the intention behind this bilateral trade agreement."
