Tim Cook Hints at Partnerships Beyond ChatGPT for Apple Devices
Siri AI: News of the long-delayed Siri AI has finally arrived. The 2024 launch of Siri AI has already been delayed significantly, leaving the company struggling to compete with major players like OpenAI and Google in the AI field.
Apple's long-overdue Siri AI launch is finally on track and will be released for users by 2026. This was revealed by Apple CEO Tim Cook in a recent interview. According to him, a new and improved version of Siri will be coming out next year, though he did not confirm a timeline to avoid criticism.
With the iOS 18 update in 2024, Apple was supposed to introduce a new look and functionality for Siri. Fast forward to nearly 2026, and there is no word on the new Siri update that was introduced at the launch of the iPhone 16. However, Cook's public announcement does hint that the company is finally on track, and we will soon learn more about the personalized version of Siri AI.
Apple had signed a deal with OpenAI to use ChatGPT on iPhones and other devices, and Cook was asked whether there could be more such agreements with AI chatbots, especially with OpenAI's competitors. In response, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the company intends to integrate with more partners, hinting at third-party deals that could bring AI models to other Apple devices.
Just as Apple has integrated with ChatGPT, Google's Gemini is also likely to integrate with the company. If a solution is found, Apple is likely to benefit from other AI chatbots, including Perplexity. Apple is very clear about how all these third-party AI models will work within the Apple ecosystem. You can access ChatGPT's features, but its data is sent to an external server over which Apple has no control and no knowledge of how user data is processed.

Considering all these circumstances, Apple needs a robust AI reboot if it wants to expand its smart home ecosystem, which will be a major focus for Apple in 2026. If reports are to be believed, a foldable iPhone is also likely to debut in the next 10-12 months. Hopefully, the new version of Siri gets the right support and architecture to compete with other platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini.
