T20 World Cup Venue Dispute: Tamim Iqbal Calls for Calm, Future-Focused Decisions
Tamim's statement sparked an uproar in Bangladesh and divided the cricket community. Following this, M. Nazmul Islam, chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's finance committee, shared a controversial social media post targeting Tamim.

Bangladesh, on the grounds of security fears, asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to move all T20 World Cup matches in 2026 from India to Sri Lanka. After that, former Bangladesh captain and batting legend Tamim Iqbal advised the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to think about the future, not their emotions, since whatever happens in Bangladesh will affect the country for the next 10 years.
Tamim's statement sparked an uproar in Bangladesh and divided the cricket community. Following this, M. Nazmul Islam, chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's finance committee, shared a controversial social media post targeting Tamim. Although Nazmul quickly deleted it, a screenshot of the post has gone viral. In his post, Nazmul called Tamim a "proven Indian agent."
Tamim Iqbal said, "The situation is a bit serious right now, and it's difficult to make any sudden statements. But it should be kept in mind that if everyone works together, many problems can be resolved through dialogue. You need to assess Bangladesh's standing in world cricket and what the future holds for Bangladesh cricket. Decisions should be made based on that."
