SUV Recall: A automaker will recall more than one lakh SUVs and pickups in the US, vehicles have developed defects

Toyota will recall more than 1,00,000 SUVs and pickup trucks in the US. This information has been given in a US media report. These SUVs and pickup trucks are reportedly suffering from a problem, which can cause the engine of these vehicles to shut down. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is the top agency monitoring road safety in the US. It was reportedly said on Tuesday that not only Toyota vehicles but also Lexus models are affected by this problem.

The report further states that the affected Toyota and Lexus vehicles may be recalled due to debris in their engines, which is likely to cause them to stall. Which can be fatal if the vehicle suddenly stops while moving in the middle of the road. The latest recall involves some Toyota Tundra pickup trucks and Lexus LX600 SUVs, which are equipped with the Japanese auto giant's V35A six-cylinder engine.

The NHTSA recall document states that debris from the manufacturing process can contaminate the engine and damage the main bearings, which can cause the engine to shut down and reduce driving power. NHTSA has also said in its recall document that work is still underway on a solution to the problem.

Meanwhile, Toyota has run into difficulties in its home market of Japan, where government officials have searched the automaker's plant on allegations of irregularities during certification testing. The company allegedly gave erroneous and insufficient data during accident tests, causing seven of its vehicles' safety data to be faked.

Due to the controversy, Toyota has halted the manufacture of three models: the Yaris Cross, Corolla Axio, and Corolla Fielder. Aside from Toyota, other automakers such as Mazda, Honda, Hino, and Daihatsu have been accused of fabricating vehicle data.
