The government said in an official release that the government will make cash payments at ration shops to those whose livelihoods have been affected due to the cyclone. Also, relief under other categories will be increased.

The cyclone has passed but many areas of Chennai are still flooded. General life is disrupted. People have to struggle a lot to get drinking water and other essential commodities.
