Spotify increased the price of premium plans, see new prices
Spotify has increased the prices of its premium plans, giving a shock to music lovers. In India, the individual plan is now Rs 139, duo plan Rs 179, student plan Rs 69, and family plan Rs 229 per month. The company says that this price increase has been done due to investment in the platform and rising costs.

If you also enjoy listening to music on Spotify, there's some bad news for you. The company has recently confirmed that starting this September, Spotify's premium subscription prices will increase in many regions, including India. This price hike is due to the company's need to manage rising costs while continuing to invest in its platform. The increase will affect users in South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region. The company states that affected customers will receive emails in the next few weeks explaining the price changes and their effective dates.
However, the company has already implemented the new prices for Indian users. The updated prices for various premium plans are now visible on Spotify's website. This marks the first time since entering the Indian market in 2019 that Spotify has increased its membership prices there.
The price of the individual premium plan has risen from Rs 119 to Rs 139 per month. The Duo plan, which provides premium access for two accounts, has increased from Rs 149 to Rs 179. Additionally, the student plan price has gone up from Rs 59 to Rs 69 per month, and the family plan price has increased from Rs 179 to Rs 229. The company notes that this is the largest increase, at 28 percent across its plans.
Regarding this price increase, the company says that as they expand their platform, they are also updating premium prices for new customers in India starting today. In recent years, the music streaming industry has shrunk due to the closure of several platforms. It appears some music streaming services have exited the market, forcing Spotify to compete with major players like YouTube Music, Apple Music, Amazon Music, JioSaavn, and Hungama.
