Sunshine Double in Sight for Jannik Sinner After Indian Wells Triumph

Jannik Sinner defeated Damir Dzumhur 6-3, 6-3 in the first round of the Miami Open at the Hard Rock Stadium. This win by Sinner helped him achieve a record previously held by the legendary Novak Djokovic. Sinner was only eight points behind in serving during the match. Sinner won the Paris Masters and Indian Wells titles in November. Following his title victories at the Paris Masters and Indian Wells in November, he now equaled Novak Djokovic's record of 24 consecutive set wins at ATP Masters 1000 events.

He will have a chance to overtake Djokovic by winning the first set of his third-round match against 30th seed Corentin Moutet, who defeated Tomas Machac 6-0, 1-6, 6-4. After the win, Sinner said, "I think sometimes the scoreboard matters. I try to improve as a player and put myself in position to play as many matches as possible. I always treat every opponent the same, come on the court with a good attitude, try to give my best, and give it my all."

Sinner is seeking his second title in Miami. He was previously champion in 2024. The Italian has no ATP ranking points to defend in South Florida, allowing him to build further momentum in his battle with world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz.
