India's Women's 4x100m Relay Wins Gold at New Taipei City Athletics Open with New Meet Record
Athletics Open: The Indian women's 4x100m relay team won the gold medal at the New Taipei City Athletics Open. The quartet of Shrabani Nanda, S.S. Sneha, Sudeshna Shivankar, and Tamannaah clocked a brilliant 44.07 seconds to top the podium at the Banqiao Stadium in Taiwan.



The women’s 4x100m relay team from India had an excellent performance at the New Taipei City Athletics Open, as they clinched the gold medal and established a new meet record. The New Taipei City Athletics Open is a major international tournament under the Continental Tour Silver category of World Athletics. The quartet from India comprised Shrabani Nanda, S.S. Sneha, Sudeshna Shivankar, and Tamannaah, who clocked 44.07 seconds to clinch the gold medal.
Another highlight from the meet was India’s performance in field events, where Shaili Singh clinched the gold medal in the women’s long jump, achieving a mark of 6.24 meters. She added another gold to India's medal tally at the meet.
India's Tejas Shirse also impressed on the track, winning the silver medal in the men's 110 meter hurdles. Tejas ran a strong race against tough competition and finished second. This performance continued his steady progress in the hurdles event. Tejas had previously won gold at the National Championships. His gold-winning time was 13.50 seconds. He improved his own meet record of 13.61 seconds, but missed out on qualifying for the Commonwealth Games (CWG) as the qualifying time was 13.39 seconds.
Earlier, the Indian women's relay team also performed well at the Under-20 Athletics Championships, where India won a record 19 medals. The women's 4x100m relay also won the silver medal with a time of 45.05 seconds. The team members were Kajal Hirabhai Vaja, Bhavana G, Aarti, and Nipam. The Indian men's 4x400m relay team also improved the meet record of 3:07.38, but finished third with a time of 3:05.54. The team members were Piyush Raj, Syed Sabir, Ranjeet Kumar S, and Mohammed Ashfaq.
