Ellyse Perry Becomes First Australian Woman to Play 350 International Matches
Ellyse Perry Record: Ellyse Perry created history in the Adelaide T20I against India. She became the first Australian woman to play 350 international matches.
Cricket all-rounder Ellyse Perry has created a new record in international cricket. She has become the first woman cricketer from Australia to feature in 350 international matches. When she went to field on Saturday in the final and decisive T20I of the three-match series against India at the Adelaide Oval, everyone was congratulating her on her achievement. Only two women cricketers have played more international matches than her. India's captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, is at the top, playing her 357th match, while New Zealand's Suzie Bates is at the third spot, having played 355 matches.
The second-highest capped players from Australia, behind Perry, are the current ODI and Test captain Alyssa Healy, who has featured in 295 matches, and former vice-captain Alex Blackwell, who has featured in 252 matches. However, Healy has announced that she will retire from international cricket after next month's day-night Test against India, which begins on March 6.
Megan Schutt, meanwhile, has not yet made any long-term commitments and is solely focused on the upcoming T20 World Cup. In contrast, Perry, speaking to reporters before the Adelaide T20I, said she has no set timeline for her future in international cricket.
