Cricket Australia Shifts India Women’s ODI to Hobart, Melbourne Misses Out

The Indian women's cricket team will tour Australia next year, wherein three T20s, three ODIs, and one Test match will be played. The venue finalised for the third ODI match on March 1 has now been changed. Now this match will be played at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Cricket Victoria (CV) has informed Cricket Australia (CA) that the Junction Oval will not be able to host the day-night match. This was to be the first day-night ODI international match at Junction Oval, but due to planning constraints and ongoing work in floodlight installation, the movement of spectators would have been affected. In such a situation, Cricket Australia decided to shift the match to Tasmania.

Given the short time of the day-night match to be held in Hobart on February 27, it was not practical to hold the match as a day match. At the same time, the MCG was not available due to renovation works on the ground. Cricket Australia's Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, Peter Roach, said that we regret that this match will not be held at the Junction Oval. There will be no women's international match in Melbourne this season.

We hoped that the lights of the Junction Oval would be ready several weeks before this match, and we would enjoy the first international day-night match on the ground, but unfortunately, the MCG is not available due to renovation. Due to the compact multiformat schedule as well as the ongoing lighting work on the Junction Oval, we cannot organize this match even during the day.

He said that we are grateful to Cricket Tasmania, which agreed to hold the second match in Hobart. It is hoped that the fans of Tasmania will definitely come to cheer our world champion women's team in both these matches. We apologize to the fans who bought the tickets. Refunds will be processed automatically in the next 24 hours. Roach said that we are looking forward to a great series against India. Women's international cricket will return to Melbourne next season.
