RBI may announce ₹ 48 thousand crore dividend to the government

The board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is going to meet today i.e. Friday (May 19) in Mumbai. According to reports, the possibility of giving dividends to the central government can be considered in this meeting.
The meeting will discuss the financial condition of the central bank RBI and the amount that can be given to the government as dividends. This type of meeting is usually held in May itself, in which RBI decides on its financial health and dividend amount.
RBI gives dividends to the government every year. Talking about last year, RBI had given Rs 30,310 crore as dividends to the central government.
The central government has estimated a dividend of Rs 48,000 crore from RBI and other financial institutions this year. The government receives dividends from the financial institutions in which it holds a stake. Talking about the estimates of analysts, experts of Standard Chartered are of the opinion that RBI can give a dividend of up to Rs 1-2 lakh crore in this financial year.
