Recently, the government has shared some important information with the people. In the last ten years, 11 airlines in the country have closed their operations. The reasons behind this are financial issues and some internal problems. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol said this in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

While giving his written answer to the Upper House, the minister said, "Aviation is not a sector that is strictly regulated. The operations are allowed on a commercial basis. The government wants a strong and balanced aviation sector." The minister added, "11 airlines have closed their operations in the last ten years. The reasons behind this are financial issues and lack of enough aircraft. Some internal issues have also led to the closure of these companies. However, specific details have not been disclosed.:"

The Minister also informed about the mergers of some airlines. AirAsia (India) Private Limited has merged. It is now known as AIX Connect Private Limited. It has merged with Air India Express Limited. Similarly, Tata SIA Airlines Limited (Vistara) has also merged. Vistara has merged with Air India Limited.

Minister Mohol provided detailed information on this matter. He stated that Kingfisher Airlines owes the Airports Authority of India ₹380.51 crore. This claim has been filed with the official liquidator in Bengaluru. Kingfisher Airlines ceased operations in 2012.

TruJet owes the Airports Authority of India ₹0.03 crore. This amount is also under process for recovery. The good news is that Jet Airways has no outstanding dues. Similarly, GoFirst Airlines has no outstanding dues. The government has clarified the status of these outstanding dues. This information reflects the financial health of the aviation sector.
