Rajasthan Sizzles as Barmer Hits Season’s Highest Temperature at 48.3°C

The highest temperature was recorded at 48.3 degrees Celsius in Barmer, followed by 46.4 degrees Celsius in Phalodi, 45.8 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer, 45.6 degrees Celsius in Chittorgarh, 45 degrees Celsius in Bikaner, 44.6 degrees Celsius in Jodhpur, 44.7 degrees Celsius in Kota, 44.8 degrees Celsius in Jhunjhunu, 44.5 degrees Celsius in Churu and Pilani, and 44 degrees Celsius in Fatehpur.

According to the Meteorological Department, the heatwave conditions in western Rajasthan are likely to worsen. A red alert has been issued in Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Jodhpur, while yellow and orange alerts are in effect in several other districts. Experts have advised people to avoid the sun, drink water frequently, and avoid stepping out of their homes between 12 noon and 4 pm.

The maximum temperature in the capital, Jaipur, was recorded at 43.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Heat wave conditions persisted throughout the day, while the weather remained clear. The heat was also felt at tourist destinations, where the number of tourists remained low during the day.

The intense heat and humidity also troubled people in Ajmer, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42.7 degrees Celsius. In Kota, the temperature reached 44.7 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow heatwave alert for Kota on Wednesday.
