IPL 2026 Playoffs Force Australia to Rest Cummins, Hazlewood, Head for Pakistan Tour

Cricket Australia has announced the squads for the upcoming tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Cooper Connolly, Xavier Bartlett, and Travis Head will not be participating in the ODI series against Pakistan that commences from May 30. They will not be traveling to Pakistan since they will remain in India to participate in the IPL 2026. It is anticipated that Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Cooper Connolly, Xavier Bartlett, and Travis Head will play crucial roles during the IPL playoff matches since it appears that Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore will secure a top-four spot.

Mitchell Starc plays for Delhi Capitals and might make it to the playoffs. However, Mitchell Starc will be replaced by Mitchell Marsh, Cameron Green, and Josh Inglis in the Australia team for the Pakistan series. Marsh and Inglis currently play for the Lucknow Super Giants, while Green represents the Kolkata Knight Riders.

LSG has been eliminated from playoff contention, but KKR still has a realistic chance of reaching the top four. If KKR qualifies, it's likely that Green will also be dropped from the squad. However, Cricket Australia has not yet issued an official statement on this matter.
