Rajasthan REET Scam: 123 Govt Teachers Booked for Using Fake Certificates, Facing Termination and Salary Recovery

Cases of fraud in recruitment exams in Rajasthan are constantly emerging. Authorities have uncovered that a significant number of individuals appeared in the REET exam using fake certificates and secured government jobs, resulting in 123 people becoming government teachers with forged documents. The Special Operations Group has now registered cases of fraud and criminal conspiracy against these teachers. The Directorate of Education has sent a letter to the Chief Education Officers of all districts, instructing them to immediately terminate the services of these 123 candidates. Additionally, an order has been issued to recover the salaries paid to them so far. The department states that the recovery process will be expedited to offset the financial loss to the government treasury.

During the SOG investigation, besides arranging for dummy candidates, irregularities were found in photos, signatures, and REET certificates. Last year, the state government directed all departments to verify the educational qualifications, application forms, photos, and signatures of employees appointed between 2019 and 2024 by cross-checking these details. Subsequently, the Directorate of Elementary Education in Bikaner established four-member investigation committees at the divisional level. These committees discovered serious irregularities in teacher recruitment based on reports from divisions in Bikaner, Churu, Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, and Pali.

The investigation revealed that many educational documents and REET certificates were counterfeit. Irregularities were also identified in signatures and certificates. According to the report, numerous candidates submitted fake documents for the Teacher Examination (Level 1 and 2) in 2018 and 2022. In some cases, dummy candidates were made to sit for the exams.

The investigation pointed out discrepancies in photos, signatures, and REET certificates. For example, the photos and signatures of teachers Deshraj (Pali), Himanshu Mittal (Jalore), and Jitendra Singh (Jalore) did not match their application forms. In some cases, degrees and REET certificates were found to be entirely suspicious.

It was also revealed that the teachers most involved in suspicious activities are from Jalore district. These include Lokesh Kumar Sau (Dudha Ki Beri), Rekha Meena (Jeetpura), Ruchika Sharma (Pawali), and Prakash Bhadu (Kolian Ki Beri), among others. Some of these teachers were recruited in 2016 and 2021 and are presently working in various schools. The SOG has registered cases against 123 teachers and launched investigations. More names are expected to surface as the inquiry continues.
