Phone App: Google is releasing a new update, many filters will be available for call history

Google is unveiling a feature in the Phone app with the aim of better organizing calls on handsets. It is reported to include a variety of filters in order to classify a variety of types of calls, e.g., spam and unknown callers. The users are now reported to see the calls classified in groups and not in a list. The feature was previously reported to have been included in beta mode in the Phone app but is now available globally on every device with Android.

According to a report by Android Authority, the Phone app can now categorize calls based on their types, such as All, Missed, Contacts, Spam, and Non-Spam. This presumably makes it easier to find specific callers rather than having to scroll through a list of unrelated callers, though it only includes a specific set of filters and users do not have the option to search for calls based on incoming or outgoing calls.

Call filters were first introduced with the 159.0.718038457-public beta-pixel 2024 update of the Phone app last month. At the time, it was limited to beta users and there was no information about its public rollout, though the report suggests that it is now rolling out to all Android users.
