Due to the demand for utility vehicles, wholesale sales of passenger cars in January increased by 1.6% year-on-year to 3,99,386 units. 3.93 lakh units were sold in January last year. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), this is the highest sale of passenger vehicles in January.

Companies delivered 2.13 lakh utility vehicles to dealers, up 6% over 2.01 lakh in January 2024. Passenger vehicle wholesale sales remained at 1.27 lakh units during the period compared to 1.26 lakh units in the same period of last year. Van sales declined 6.4% to 11,250 units. Maruti Suzuki sold 1,73,599 units during the period, up 4% over 1,66,802 in January 2024. Hyundai Motor India sold 5 fewer units to dealers at 54,003. Mahindra & Mahindra wholesales went up 2.1% to 50,659 units from 43,068 units.

Total two-wheeler sales went up 2.1% to 15.26 lakh units in the period over 14.95 lakh units in January 2024. Scooters rose 12.4% to 5,48,201 units, and motorcycle sales fell 3.1% to 9,36,145 units. Total three-wheeler sales went up 7.7% to 58,167
