Pakistan has suffered another major setback after losing badly to South Africa in the second Test. International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a fine of 25 percent of their match fees on them. In fact, Pakistan had to face defeat by 10 wickets in this Test match played at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. With this, they have been wiped out in the two-match Test series.

ICC has fined Pakistan players 25 percent of their match fees due to slow over rate in the second Test. Apart from this, ICC has deducted five points of Pakistan's team. Pakistan was found guilty of bowling five overs less than the scheduled time. As per ICC rules, five World Test Championship (WTC) points have been deducted from Pakistan's account. However, Pakistan has already been eliminated from the WTC, so it will not affect them.

This fine is as per Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with minimum over-rate offences. According to the rules, players are fined five percent of their match fees for each over they do not bowl in the stipulated time. Five WTC points were deducted as per Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions. Pakistan captain Shan Masood has accepted it.

The ICC said in a statement, ' West Indies match referee Richie Richardson imposed this fine when Pakistan was found guilty of bowling five overs less in the stipulated time despite taking into account the time concession.' According to the ICC Code of Conduct, players are fined five percent of their match fees for bowling each over less in the stipulated time.

The ICC said that Pakistan skipper Shan Masood has admitted the offense and accepted the sanction, so there's no need to hold a formal hearing. Pak are eighth-placed in points table. West Indies (WI) are ninth, and last.

Talking about the match, Pakistan lost the match by 10 wickets after South Africa enforced follow-on on the visitors and bundled them out for 478 in the second innings.

The Proteas chased down the target of 58 runs without losing any wickets on Monday. South Africa defeated Pakistan by two wickets in the first Test to win the two-match series 2-0 and make it to the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the first time. Temba Bavuma-led South Africa are facing Australia in the final of the WTC starting at Lord's on June 11. Pat Cummins-led Australia are the defending champions of this tournament, having beaten India by 209 runs in the finals at Oval this year.
