Pakistan: Brother of former IG of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police shot dead, police engaged in search of attackers

The brother of a former Inspector General (IG) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police was allegedly shot dead after being abducted by unidentified bike-borne miscreants in Pakistan's Dera Ismail Khan district. News agency ANI has given this information by quoting the Pakistani newspaper Dawn.

District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmed told a press conference on this matter on Friday that Malik Ghulam Habib Mehsud, brother of former IG of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Salahuddin Mehsud, was going to his home when unknown assailants who came on two motorcycles abducted him. Killed them.

At the time of the incident, a police vehicle was passing through the road when SHO Gomal saw the motorcyclists speeding towards the main road. However, during this, the SHO got suspicious and tried to stop one of the motorcyclists, upon which the motorcyclists started firing at the policemen. However, he did not get hurt.

One of the attackers was injured in retaliatory action by the police. The attackers managed to escape by dodging the policemen. However, the authorities have started a search operation in the area.
