Former SC judge Naveen Sinha supports new criminal laws, says justice process will speed up
Criminal Laws: Former Supreme Court judge Naveen Sinha said that with the help of new criminal laws, crime will be dealt with effectively. He said that to make them successful, training programs will have to be organized for judges and police.
Naveen Sinha, a former Supreme Court judge, supports the three new criminal laws that the nation's Parliament passed in 2023. He claimed that new criminal laws would speed up the legal system and ensure that crimes are prosecuted successfully. The former judge stressed that in order for them to be successful, police and judges would need to participate in efficient training programmes.
Retired Justice Sinha made this comment at the launch of Supreme Court lawyer Ashwini Kumar Dubey's book 'End of Colonial Laws - From Vision to Action'. The former judge said that times are changing and there is a need to change the law as per the times. He said, 'Lawmakers have realized that the existing laws are not serving the objectives of the society. Therefore, with the help of new laws, crimes will be dealt with effectively. Judges and police need to be trained for the implementation of these laws.
The nation will see the implementation of three new criminal laws on July 1. The Parliament passed the Indian Judicial Code, Indian Civil Defence Code, and Indian Evidence Act on December 21, 2023, the day they were introduced.
