Mary Kom is now 41 years old. At the same time, the International Boxing Association (IBA) allows male and female boxers to play tournaments only till the age of 40 years. Because of this, 2012 Olympic Games medalist and six-time world champion Mary Kom had to retire from boxing.

Saying goodbye to boxing, Mary Kom said that I still have the hunger to fight and win in specific sports. I still want to play more, but due to my age, I am not allowed to play. So I am helpless. This is unfortunate. For this reason, I have had to decide to retire from boxing. Although it is a good thing that I achieved everything in my boxing career.

If we look at Mary Kom's boxing career, she has created many world records. Mary Kom is the first female boxer in the world to become world champion six times. Apart from this, Mary Kom is the first Indian woman to win gold in the 2014 Asian Games. He won the bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics. He also received Padmashree in 2006 and the country's highest sports honor Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2009.

Let us tell you that in December 2023, during the Khelo India Para Games, Mary Kom had said that she wanted to play more. He still has a lot of boxing left in him. But, due to age, she will not be able to do this. However, she will try to stay connected with boxing. She had said that she could become a professional boxer, but it is not clear yet.
