With Shamar Joseph and Romario Shepherd bowling sharp, West Indies defeated South Africa in the second T20 by 30 runs. This win earned the hosts an unassailable 2-0 lead in a three-match series. In the first innings, West Indies put up 179 for six in 20 overs. The South African team collapsed for 149 runs in 19.4 overs.

Their top order was doing well, but once the process of falling of wickets started, it didn't stop. Shepherd weakened the top order while Joseph didn't let lower order stand. Spinner Akila Hussain did not let the middle order settle down in middle overs.

South Africa, chasing the target of 180 runs, got off to a stormy start courtesy of an opening pair that comprised Ryan Rickleton and Reeza Hendricks. The two of them took the team score to 63 in 4.3 overs. It was here that Joseph gave South Africa its first blow by breaking this partnership and sending Rickelton back to the dressing room. In the following over, Shepherd packed off Reeza Hendricks. Rickleton scored 20 runs, while Hendricks added 44 runs. At the other end, Hendricks faced 18 balls and slammed six fours and two sixes.

Captain Aiden Markram was out but 19, dismissed by Shepherd. Young batsman Tristan Stubbs was particularly not allowed to move beyond 28 runs by Hussain. Later, Hussain sent back Rassie van der Dussen to reduce South Africa's score to 138 for six. From here, South Africa could not make a comeback.

Joseph and Shepherd took three wickets each. Hussain got two wickets. Matthew Ford and Gudkesh Moti got one wicket each. West Indies came in to bat first and no batsman scored a half-century. Shai Hope scored the highest 41 runs for the team. His innings included two fours and four sixes. Hope along with Alec Athanase added 41 runs for the first wicket. Athanase returned to the pavilion after scoring 28 runs. Nicole Pooran, who was the hero of the last match, could score only 19 runs. Roston Chase could score only seven runs.

Finally, captain Rovman Powell heched 35 runs in 22 balls and Sherfane Rutherford heched 29 runs in 18 balls, due to which the team reached the score of 179. For South Africa, Lizard Williams took three wickets and Patrick Kruger took two. Otenil Bartman got one success.
