A flight by IndiGo heading to Jharkhand's capital, Ranchi, was forced to make an emergency landing on Monday. Authorities confirmed that the flight was grounded due to a bird strike, and all 175 passengers are safe on board.

According to news agency PTI, the plane was damaged due to a vulture attack at an altitude of about 4,000 feet.

RR Maurya, director of Ranchi's Birsa Munda Airport, told news agency PTI, "An IndiGo plane collided with a bird near Ranchi. The incident took place about 10 to 12 nautical miles from here, at an altitude of about 3,000 to 4,000 feet. The IndiGo plane was coming to Ranchi from Patna, and the pilot had to make an emergency landing here."
