Taking its declining market share in the Indian market for the past two years very seriously, the nation's top automobile company, Hyundai Motor India, has declared that it has plans to launch 26 new automobiles. While the majority of the models are going to be completely new, a few are going to be upgraded versions of its well-known models.

Hyundai Motor India (HMI) Managing Director Unsoo Kim has declared, "All of the models will be rolled out by 2030. Among those, 20 models will be ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) traditional petrol or diesel vehicles and the last six models would be electric vehicles. Terms of the vehicles being rolled out include totally new types of engines, which are in the process of being developed. The MD of the company avers that the products being groomed for the Indian market would see an increase in SUVs since two out of three automobiles being sold in India are SUVs."

This announcement has been made by HMI, listed on the stock market, when the news of its share in the Indian market has reached the lowest level in the last 12 years. It is being said that a team has also been sent to India from the South Korean headquarters, so that a long-term strategy can be made to stop the falling market share. Hyundai's market share has come close to 14 percent in the financial year 2025, whereas four years ago it was constantly between 17-18.5 percent. In April 2025, it has come down to less than 13 percent, due to which this company, once the second largest in the Indian market, has now come to the fourth position after Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors.

Hyundai Creta has remained at number one in terms of sales for the last two months. It became the best selling car in India in March and April 2025. The reason behind its sales is the premium interior and advanced features available in it.
