Google Discover to Feature Social Posts, Short Videos Alongside News

Google Discover will get more interactive and personalized than ever. The company announced that in the next few weeks, users will not only receive news articles but also social media posts, short videos, and other new types of content in the Discover feed.

Soon, users will be able to find content from platforms like Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube Shorts on Discover. Google says more social platforms will be added in the future. According to research, people prefer a mix of articles, videos, and social posts.

Google has also added a "Follow" option for users. Now, you can follow your favorite publishers and creators directly from Discover. After tapping a name, you'll be able to see their articles, YouTube videos, and social posts, and if you wish, you can follow them. Updates from those creators and publishers will then appear in your feed when you're logged in with your Google Account.

Google says this update is another step toward creating a direct connection between publishers and audiences. Previously, the company offered a feature to select favorite news sources for "Top Stories" in Search. The new Discover update is an extension of that initiative, allowing content creators and publishers to reach their audiences directly.
