The Council, headed by the Finance Minister of the States and the Union Finance Minister, has decided to reduce the tax on food served in cinema halls from 18 percent to only 5 percent. Come, let's know about the complete news.
"It has been clarified by the GST Council today that food and beverages consumed in cinema halls will attract 5 percent GST and not 18 percent," Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra said. Simultaneously speaking to reporters in New Delhi, West Bengal Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said that the council has decided to waive GST on the import of the cancer drug dinutuximab used in the treatment of rare diseases and Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP). Discount approved.
Apart from this, the council has also agreed to levy a 28 percent tax on online gaming, casino, and horse racing and this tax will be levied at full face value. "The GST Council has decided that full face value of betting on online gaming, casino, and horse racing will be taxed at 28 percent at the entry point," he told reporters.
Further Maharashtra state minister, Sudhir Mungantiwar said that online gaming companies will be taxed without any discrimination on the basis of whether the games require skill or are based on chance.
