A flood-like situation has occurred in most districts of Rajasthan after heavy rain. Today the Meteorological Department issued a heavy to very heavy rain warning in 18 districts of the state. Meanwhile, the administration has declared holiday for school in 13 districts as a precaution. Education Minister Madan Dilawar has made a statement that in areas where schools are in a poor condition because of rain, teachers can close the schools at their own discretion.

Due to rain, schools have been declared closed today in Jhalawar, Baran, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Banswara, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Deeg, Rajsamand, Bhilwara and Chittorgarh. Heavy rains occurred in many districts including Jaipur on Wednesday. Kota, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Dausa, Alwar and Bharatpur received 2 to 6 inches of rain. Late in the night at Jaipur, CM Bhajanlal Sharma arrived at his assembly constituency to check the roads, where individuals informed him that if the roads cannot be repaired, then fill the potholes at least. JDA officials were also present on the spot with the CM.

In view of the flood-like situation created after the torrential rains in the district, Disaster Management and Agriculture Minister of Rajasthan Government, Dr. Kirori Lal Meena reached Sawai Madhopur on Wednesday and visited the waterlogging affected areas including the district headquarters and took stock of the situation. He informed that teams of Civil Defence, SDRF and NDRF are working promptly along with the administration in relief and rescue operations. People from waterlogged areas have been shifted to safer places and food packets are being distributed to those who have had to leave their homes.
