You may have heard that intense rains cause destruction, but did you also hear that they cause more deaths? According to a study, too much rain can raise the chance of dying. It has been discovered that more deaths are happening due to heart and lung conditions.

According to a study published in the BMJ, 34 countries have been examined over the course of 40 years to determine the effects of excessive rainfall on public health. According to the study, deaths from respiratory illnesses increased by 29%, and deaths from all causes increased by 8% on days with excessive rainfall. According to the study, regions with a consistent climate and less vegetation were at increased risk.

Researchers looked at the effects of different rainfall intensities on mortality, analyzing almost 109 million deaths that took place at 645 sites between 1980 and 2020.

According to a study, heart and respiratory deaths were most affected by the strongest storms. In addition to contaminated water and increasing exposure to dangerous bacteria and viruses, excessive rains also damaged infrastructure.

People who already have an illness are more fatal to infection during rainy seasons, according to Dr. Pratik Chaudhary, Senior Consultant, Interventional Cardiology at Asian Hospital in New Delhi.

Dr. Pratik Chaudhary thinks that the impact of heavy rain on people's mental health causes an even higher rate of cardiac incidents.

Speaking about the study, Dr. Dharmesh Shah, Founder and Director of Holistica World, stated that significant rainfall typically results in high humidity and water source pollution, which encourages the emergence of illnesses that are transmitted by the air and water.
