Duleep Trophy: Shreyas Iyer's flop show, Padikkal and Bharat hit half-centuries; India-A strengthened by Shashwat's century

The last round of Duleep Trophy matches are being played and it is absolutely a nail-biting situation where India-A faces India-C-while on the other hand, India-B faces the challenge of India-D. While many veteran players flopped in the first day's play, the young players surprised with their strong performance.

Shashwat Rawat's brilliant century on the first day got the India-A team's first-day honors in the ongoing match between India-A and India-C. He steered his team into a commanding position in the match with his century. Again, the off-spinner bowled lethally and took three wickets.

After losing the toss and batting first, India-A got off to a pretty poor start by losing five of their batsmen to the pavilion on a score of just 36. Thereafter, Shashwat shared a vital partnership of 87 runs with Shams Mulani and a 70-run stand with Avesh Khan. The team eventually managed to score 224 runs for the loss of 7 wickets by stumps on day one.

The listless performance of Shreyas Iyer, captaining the India-D team, goes on. In the first innings, he was sorely disappointed and got out on a duck in the match against India-B. However, Devdutt Padikkal and KS Bharat performed half-century innings. And by stumps on day one, India-D scored 306 runs for the loss of five wickets.
