Electrification work on the Dausa-Gangapur City railway track, which began about a year and a half ago, has gained momentum. The North Western Railway has prioritized it among its projects. The work pace suggests it might be completed early. The Railways aims to finish this project by March 2026 at a cost of ₹143 crore, though officials are working to complete it by January or February 2026. Once finished, passenger and freight trains will run between Dausa and Gangapur City with electric engines.
Preparations for electrification started last year alongside train operations. After the tender process, the contractor began work. Pole erection and electric line laying from Dausa to Salempura-Aranya station are complete, with rapid progress now between Salempura and Lalsot.
Once electrified, the Dausa-Gangapur route will connect directly to the busy Delhi-Ahmedabad and Delhi-Mumbai corridors. This will strengthen the railway network and boost regional industrial and economic growth. Electrification will enable long-distance trains and present new opportunities for industry and trade.

A large freight yard has been developed at Baniyan station on this route. Additionally, railway officials are in ongoing talks with entrepreneurs about transporting agricultural produce from nearby markets in Lalsot and Mandawari, benefiting farmers and traders.
Electrifying this track will offer operational advantages, allowing trains from major cities like Punjab, Haryana, Alwar, Dausa, Gangapur City, Kota, Indore, Bhopal, Nagpur, Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai to run on this route. This will reduce travel time and fuel expenses, as most trains currently pass through Jaipur, increasing distance and journey duration.
