Government extended the ban on export of sugar

The central government has extended the ban on sugar exports till further orders. Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued a notification giving information about this. However, the new ban will not apply to sugar supplied to the EU and the US.

Last year, India kept sugar in the export ban category till 31 October 2023 to prevent uncontrolled exports and to ensure availability at reasonable rates. The government reviews the stock of sugar from time to time and ensures its adequate availability in the country.

The special thing is that this time the government has included raw sugar, white sugar, refined sugar along organic sugar in the export ban list. So that sugar cannot be exported in any way.
