A new technology of BYD will save oil, a journey of 100 kilometers will be covered in just this much petrol
BYD launched its latest generation of plug-in hybrid technology on Tuesday. This technology achieves a record low fuel consumption of 2.9 liters per 100 km (62.1 mi) on a depleted battery. Additionally, with a fully charged battery and a full gasoline tank, this technology can ensure a driving range of more than 2000 kilometers.
Chinese electric car maker BYD launched its latest generation of plug-in hybrid technology on Tuesday. The company says this technology achieves a record low fuel consumption of 2.9 liters per 100 km (62.1 mi) on a depleted battery.
The company's first automaking plant since its 2003 acquisition of Qinchuan Automobile Co. is located in Xian, the capital of Shaanxi province, where BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu unveiled the technology during a speech. This technology guarantees a driving range of over 2,000 kilometers when the battery is fully charged and the petrol tank is full.
A few dozen kilometers can be covered by BYD's previous generation of plug-in hybrid technology on batteries, and 3.8 liters of petrol can cover 100 kilometers on the engine alone. Throughout the last three years, BYD has sold 3.6 million plug-in hybrid vehicles, with prices starting at 79,800 yuan ($11,011).
