Bengaluru: Hindu activist arrested under Goonda Act, accused of lynching a man carrying a cow

Bengaluru Hindu activist Arrested: Karnataka Police has arrested Hindu activist Puneeth alias Puneeth Kerahalli under the Goonda Act. Puneet is accused of lynching a man from the minority community who was carrying a cow a few days back. Between 2013 and 2023, 10 cases are already registered against the accused.

Bengaluru: Hindu activist arrested under Goonda Act, accused of lynching a man carrying a cow

Karnataka Police has booked Hindu activist Puneeth alias Puneeth Kerahalli under the Goondas Act and arrested him. The police gave this information on Saturday. Recently, cow vigilante Puneeth was arrested for lynching a man from a minority community on the charge of taking away a cow.

Police investigation revealed that the victim was transporting cows legally. He was later released on bail in the case.

Police said that the accused was found involved in 10 cases between 2013 and 2023. The accused was repeatedly involved in anti-social activities, trying to disturb peace in the society after which criminal cases were registered against him. Special wing CCB police took him into custody on Friday.

Cases are registered against the accused at DJ Halli, Beguru, Kaggalipura, Halasurugate, Chamarajpet, Electronic City, Malavalli, and Sathanur police stations.

The accused arrested under the Goonda Act do not get bail for one year. The police are not required to produce the accused before the judge within 24 hours of the arrest and there is no requirement to follow the procedure for taking him into police custody.

Police said Punit, a native of Hassan, has been repeatedly involved in criminal cases for the purpose of extortion in the name of the national defense post.
