The Jodhpur Airport in Rajasthan witnessed a shocking scene. A flight was scheduled to depart for Bengaluru this morning, and all of its passengers had already boarded. While the cabin crew was preparing for takeoff, indigo employees were carrying out routine pre-flight checks that were amiss today.
Although this Indigo aircraft was scheduled to depart at 10:10 am, a few minutes prior to the planned exit, a passenger on the aircraft flung the emergency exit door open. This caused the pilot and the rest of the crew to be informed of the disastrous and perilous situation. Enhanced panic mode was set off across the passengers.
In the aftermath of the incident, all the crew onboard swarmed together to begin standard operating protocol. Soon after the passenger was detained, they were escorted to the CISF.
According to NDTV, the passenger who opened the emergency exit door on the plane has been identified as Siraj Kidwai. He works at Axis Bank. The passenger claimed that he accidentally opened the flap. As soon as the emergency door of the plane opened, its signal went to the pilot. After this, the security officials took the passenger off the plane.
Airline company IndiGo has issued its statement on this incident. IndiGo said that today, during the security briefing before the departure of flight 6E 6033 from Jodhpur to Bengaluru, a passenger opened the emergency exit flap. The crew immediately followed the standard operating procedures. The passenger was later taken off and handed over to law enforcement officials for investigation.
The airline said that we regret the inconvenience caused to other passengers on board the plane and we reaffirm our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security in all our operations. The passenger is being questioned by CISF personnel at the Airport Police Station in Jodhpur. The incident caused a 20-minute delay in the takeoff of the flight, causing panic on board.
