The players of the Bangladesh national cricket team have threatened to boycott all forms of cricket. The players have declared that if director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Islam fails to resign by noon on January 15th, they will not play. The Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) has placed the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in danger. As per a news report, CWAB has declared that if Nazmul Islam fails to resign prior to their BPL match scheduled for Thursday, they will not play. The players have caused more internal conflict in Bangladesh.

According to a Cricbuzz report, this ultimatum comes after Nazmul's recent comments on the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Bangladesh's participation in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The association strongly objected to the comments, which implied that if Bangladesh does not play in the tournament, only the players will suffer financial losses and that the board will not compensate the cricketers for lost earnings.

Announcing the decision in an emergency online press conference on Wednesday night, CWAB President Mohammad Mithun said that the director's words had crossed all limits. The words used by the board director regarding the players were completely unacceptable to the players and deeply saddened the entire cricket community. Mithun said that the players' group was no longer willing to tolerate such repeated comments.

In an online emergency press conference on Wednesday night, CWAB President Mohammad Mithun made the announcement. He said, "We have given the Board ample time regarding the First Division, yet we have not seen any positive results." He reiterated that the latest comments have deeply saddened the entire cricket community.

Mithun issued a direct warning, saying, "If Nazmul does not resign before Thursday's match, we are announcing a boycott of all cricketing activities from tomorrow." Given the scale of the impending strike, the BCB issued an official statement shortly before Mithun's press conference, expressing its deepest regret for such comments. The Board stated that Nazmul's comments were not official and should not be construed as representing the Board's views or policies.
