Android 16 was officially launched last month, and Pixel devices received this update first. Now, the remaining Android smartphone manufacturers are sharing their update plans. No official timeline has been announced by Motorola yet, but reports suggest that many of the company's smartphones will not receive major OS updates beyond Android 16. However, these phones will continue to receive security updates for several more years.

Some smartphones from Motorola's Edge, G, and Razr series will not get the next Android version after Android 16. The Motorola Edge 40 Pro, launched with Android 13, will receive Android 16 as its last major update. Similarly, the Motorola Edge (2024) and Motorola ThinkPhone will also not get any major updates after Android 16.

Motorola's foldable phones released in 2023, such as the Motorola Razr 40 (Razr 2023) and Razr 40 Ultra (Razr+ 2023), will also not receive an update after Android 16. Additionally, budget models like Moto G85, Moto G55, and Moto G35 will not be updated to any new Android version beyond Android 16.

Furthermore, Motorola's Pad 60 Pro tablet, which originally launched with Android 14, will not receive further OS updates after Android 16.

The devices listed above will not get any new Android version after Android 16. However, according to Motorola's support policy, they will continue to receive security updates for several years to ensure basic security and privacy.

Motorola has not announced an official date yet, but it is expected that the Android 16 rollout may begin around September or October. New devices will receive the update first, while older models might have to wait a little longer.

Typically, Motorola tends to be a bit slower than its competitors in delivering updates. Currently, many devices are still running Android 15. However, the beta testing program for Android 16 has started on some select devices and regions, allowing users to experience it early.
