Ambassador of Switzerland said- Black money is no longer an issue with India

Swiss Ambassador to India, Dr. Ralf Heckner has said that black money is no longer an issue between India and Switzerland. He said that both countries have already shared a lot of information on this issue.
In an interview with the news agency ANI, Heckner said- I have been the Swiss ambassador in India for two years, but I have heard very little on the matter of black money.
In response to a question, the Swiss ambassador said – As far as the matter of black money is concerned, both countries had entered into an agreement in 2018 to deal with it. On the basis of this, both countries share information.
He further said- India and Switzerland have already shared a lot of information on the issue of black money. So it is no longer an issue between us.
It has been said in some news that during 2021 many people in India have invested in the Swiss banking system. The Swiss government and the banks there have handed over information about them to the Indian government four times. Switzerland is generally considered safe for Indian businessmen, politicians and industrialists.
According to the Federal Tax Administration of Switzerland, in 2021 the Swiss government shared information on financial transactions with about 101 countries. There is an agreement at the international level for this. This is called Automatic Exchange Information or AEOI.
The Swiss government has made it clear several times on international platforms that it will continue to provide information to the concerned countries under this rule and framework. Most of the cases are tax related. On January 1, 2017, amid pressure from many countries of the world, the Swiss government was forced to enact a law regarding large amounts deposited in its banks. It now includes the customer's name, address, country name and other information.
The Swiss Ambassador said – The thinking of the Governments of India and Switzerland is the same on many matters.
