The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will soon declare the central contract of Indian men's cricketers in the 2025 season. The biggest surprise here is that the BCCI will retain the A+ grade contract of Indian batting legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli worth Rs 7 crore in BCCI annual player contracts. It is thought that the board will modify its very rule in the case of these two titans because Rohit and Virat have retired from international T20 cricket and hence they will not be considered to be placed in the A+ grade.

IANS has said in its report quoting sources that Rohit and Kohli will remain in the prestigious A+ category even after retiring from the T20 format. Let us make it clear here that as per the BCCI rules, the A+ grade includes those players who play for the Indian team in all three formats (Test, ODI, and T20).

According to the report, Shreyas Iyer, who scored the most runs for India in the recent Champions Trophy, is all set to make a comeback in the central contract list. Apart from this, wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan, who was dropped along with Iyer last year, will still have to wait for his return to the central contract.

All-rounder Axar Patel, who played a key role in India's unstoppable performance in the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy, also has a good chance of getting a promotion. Varun Chakravarthy, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Abhishek Sharma, who have performed brilliantly in different formats for India in the last 12 months, also have a great chance to get their first central contract.
