Jaipur: Tension escalated in the Sanganer area of Rajasthan’s capital, Jaipur, after the idol of folk deity Veer Tejaji was found vandalized at a temple in Pratap Nagar. The incident, which reportedly occurred late Friday night, has sparked outrage among locals and led to widespread protests on Saturday morning.

As soon as residents of Pratap Nagar Sector-3 noticed the damaged idol, anger began to spread across the area. Locals gathered near the temple in large numbers and staged a protest by blocking the busy Jaipur-Tonk Road. Protesters also shut down local markets and burned tires on the road to express their anger. Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal also joined the protest.

In response to the growing unrest, heavy police force was deployed in the area to control the situation. Senior police officials and personnel from Pratap Nagar police station reached the spot and began efforts to pacify the crowd. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the temple to identify those responsible for the act. Preliminary investigations have revealed suspicious activity, and authorities have stated that arrests may be made soon.

Various local organizations staged protests across the Sanganer area, demanding strict action against the culprits and urging the administration to enhance the security of religious places. Shops in Pratap Nagar Sector-3 remained closed throughout the day as a mark of protest.

Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal, MLA Vikas Chaudhary, and former MLA Ramniwas Gawadia also visited the site and condemned the incident. They called it a deliberate attempt to hurt religious sentiments and demanded that those involved be brought to justice immediately. MP Beniwal urged the Jaipur Police Commissioner to take strict legal action and ensure the arrest of the accused at the earliest.

Police have appealed to the public to maintain peace and return home. Efforts are ongoing to normalize traffic movement on Tonk Road and prevent further escalation of tension in the area.
