Agriculture Minister emphasized horticulture: 9 new plants will be set up in the country under the Clean Plant Program

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has focused on raising farmers' per-hectare income and horticulture. For this, the central government is encouraging the horticulture sector. He informed that now Maharashtra would also become part of it under the Clean Plant Program. The Agriculture Minister's work is not said to be completed until he goes to the fields of farmers. He attended the first international agriculture hackathon of the country, held in Maharashtra.

Chouhan said that the Center is launching the Clean Plant Program (CPP). Under this scheme, nine plants will be set up across the country. Of these, three plants will be set up in Maharashtra, for which the Center will spend Rs 300 crore. In Maharashtra, these plants will be set up in Pune, Nagpur, and Solapur districts.

The objective of CPP is to increase the quality and productivity of fruit crops across the country. The programme aims to provide farmers access to high-quality, virus-free planting material, regardless of the size of their land.

The agriculture minister said that we all have to work together to make the 'Vikashit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyaan' a success. The Centre on May 29 launched a fortnight in which changes will be brought in the agriculture sector with the help of scientists. It aims to help make India the "food basket of the world".
