More than 500 Indian IT professionals are being held hostage and made to work day and night in the undisclosed areas of military-ruled Myanmar. They are being tortured for not working.
The Indian government tried to rescue them through different means. 32 Indians have been rescued. It is learned from them that young IT professionals are being implicated on the pretext of high salaries.
Along with the mafia, the Chinese army also interferes in the areas of Myanmar where the hostages are kept. Professionals are being used for digital fraud. The hostages have also been implicated in cryptocurrency-related activities. An international racket of fraud is going on in Myanmar on the basis of hostages. This is where cyber fraud is being done by people all over the world.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi told Bhaskar- We are trying to get information from the Myanmar government, but the information is being received only from a third source. A huge amount is being collected to release the hostages. The ransom is being taken in cryptocurrency. The rescued Indians said that they had been contacted after seeing advertisements on social media.
These ads are posted not only from India but also from Dubai and Bangkok. They are called in Thailand with the lure of a hefty salary. After reaching Thailand, they are taken from the airport itself to the unknown areas of Myanmar. All important documents including a passport are taken away.
