Thanks to Craig Erwin's brilliant half-century of 70 runs and Luke Jongwe's unbeaten 25 runs, Zimbabwe has defeated Sri Lanka for the first time in its own home. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 173 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. In response, Zimbabwe won by scoring 178 runs losing 6 wickets with one ball remaining.

Zimbabwe got a good start while chasing Sri Lanka's target of 174 runs. However, in the fourth over itself, opener Tinashe Kamunhukanwe was out after scoring 12 runs. After this, Craig Erwin played a match-winning inning of 70 runs in 54 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. For Zimbabwe, Brian Bennett scored 25 runs, Ryan Burl scored 13 runs and captain Sikandar Raza scored 8 runs.
